The Law Society is one of the University's largest and most active societies on campus. Edinburgh Law Society organise a variety of events for our members, ranging from social and sporting events to career and networking opportunities.

Edinburgh Law Society Committee - Two positions available 

Edinburgh Law Society have TWO positions available: TWO FIRST YEAR REPS
Apply now to be part of the Edinburgh Law Society committee! 

We are looking for confident, dedicated and sociable students who can help to organise our events and represent the views of their year group. One of the benefits of being on law society is attending our events, such as Beerienteering, Winter Dinner and Law Ball!

Applicant information:

We ask that applicants send either:

1. A video to the Law Society via edi.lawsoc.applicant@gmail.com (30 seconds to 2 mins max) OR

2. A short written speech and a picture of yourself via edi.lawsoc.applicant@gmail.com (max 350 words)

Videos and speeches should include a bit about yourself and why you think you would be the best candidate for the position. These must be submitted by 5pm on the 4 October.

These submissions will be uploaded to our Instagram and Facebook by committee on Monday 7th of October at 10am and will be up until 5pm, after which they will be deleted.

Voting information:

Voting will be done online - each applicants speech and photograph will be uploaded to our social media for the duration of the voting period. There will be a google docs form in our bio which will allow students to vote for their chosen representative. At 5pm the submissions and voting form will be removed, the votes will be counted and announced ASAP.

Disclaimer: Only current law students at the University can vote, any votes from non-law students and non-university email addresses will not be counted. Any emails received outwith voting times will also not be counted. Please note you MUST send your application before the deadline.

Dr Nikolaos Vagdoutis

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Nikolaos (Nikolas) Vagdoutis is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Edinburgh Law School, contributing to the project ‘Reversing the Gaze’. His current research focuses on the evolution of the EU economic constitution, with special emphasis on the EU cohesion policyPrior to joining the University of Edinburgh, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg, exploring the role of the European Central Bank (ECB) in the EU legal order. He had also conducted post-doctoral research at the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on Greek constitutional theory. His main research interests lie in constitutional and EU law, in legal and political theory.

Nikolas completed his undergraduate studies at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), obtained an LL.M. from the LSE, and he holds PhD from the University of Glasgow. He has taught courses at the Department of Law of the University of Luxembourg, at the Department of Political Science of the Democritus University of Thrace (as an adjunct lecturer) and at the Law School of the University of Glasgow (as a graduate teaching assistant).
