Bonheur Minzoto

Lecturer in Corporate Law

Email: bminzoto@ed.ac.uk

I was appointed as Lecturer in Corporate Law at the Edinburgh Law School in September 2025. Alongside this appointment, I am finalising a PhD in Law at the University of Manchester, where I have also taught Corporate Governance as a Teaching Associate.

My scholarly work examines the role of corporate law in responding to pressing societal challenges. I research topics related to corporate groups, directors’ duties (including company group directors), corporate and parent company liability, corporate purpose and company interest, the consideration of non-adjusting creditors in solvent and distressed (group) companies, corporate sustainability due diligence, and corporate social responsibility. I have broader interests in law and economics, the sociology of law, legal history, and comparative methodologies.

My work has featured, or is forthcoming, in leading periodicals such as the Journal of Corporate Law Studies, and I have contributed to online publications like Oxford Business Law Blog and the Nova BHRE Blog.

I read Law at York (where I was awarded the programme’s highest award mark) and Kinshasa (where I successfully represented the University at various international moot court competitions) and was a visiting researcher at Max Planck Luxembourg and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome.

I teach Company Law, Banking Law and Commercial Law (primarily commercial responsibility to stakeholders).
