As well as over 300 years’ experience in legal education, Edinburgh Law School has significant expertise in providing CPD, training, and consultancy services required by the legal profession, the world of business, government bodies, public authorities, and third sector organisations.

Our professional development and consultancy services are extensive, ranging from commercial and banking law, to medical law and ethics, legal argumentation, criminal law, constitutional law, and human rights. Our training and consultancy are delivered by research-active academics, who are leaders in their fields. Our services are topical and insightful, and engage with professional practice. Above all, we directly address the needs of our clients.

Edinburgh Law School hosts a broad spectrum of CPD events, including bespoke in-house training and online CPD. Consultancy services are also offered to assist with projects where particular expertise is required.

Training and events

Edinburgh Law Seminars

Edinburgh Law Seminars offer an annual programme of CPD seminars covering a range of popular subjects of law for the practising solicitor. These seminars offer detailed analysis of practical subjects and are written and presented by leading names in the field. The seminars are supported by substantial written materials and are offered not only in Edinburgh, but across the whole of Scotland. 

Edinburgh Law Seminars Limited is a wholly-owned trading subsidiary of the Edinburgh Legal Education Trust (ELET), the charity to which profits from the seminars are paid.  ELET is dedicated to supporting legal education in Scotland, and in particular in relation to Scots Law.

Bespoke training

Edinburgh Law School offers bespoke training packages to help firms and organisations respond to particular issues or opportunities. Our trainers will discuss your requirements with you to design and deliver sessions that are tailor-made to your needs. In this way, sessions can be developed covering content you specifically require, perfectly suited to the audience and delivered in a format most appropriate for you.

Where you have a large cohort of professionals requiring CPD, bespoke training can be a useful and cost-effective option ensuring that the time spent on CPD is directly relevant to your organisation.

Sessions can be delivered throughout the UK and can also be arranged remotely.

Online CPD

Online-based CPD courses enable flexible and supported access for those who may be at a distance from Edinburgh or fully committed during the working week. Our online CPD courses provide indispensable access to current topics and themes, yet the utmost flexibility to fit around your commitments.
