Arts+Ethics

The 13th World Congress of Bioethics (IAB 2016) was held in Edinburgh from 14-17 June 2016 and was organised by Edinburgh Law School's Mason Institute. IAB 2016 explored ‘Individuals, Public Interests, and Public Goods: What Is the Contribution of Bioethics?’, and welcomed over 700 delegates from 44 countries.

IAB 2016 featured an Arts+Ethics stream for the first time, exploring the relationship between bioethics and the arts. This stream included A number of exhibitions and performances, organised by the Arts+Ethics Research Group, and provided delegates with the opportunity to think about the centrality of form in medicine and meditate on non-verbal ways to represent health, ethics, pathology, and power.
