Edinburgh Law School academic to discuss robotics at two events this week
Professor Burkhard Schafer, Edinburgh Law School's Professor of Computational Legal Theory and the Director of the SCRIPT Centre for IT and IP Law will these week appear at two high-profile events to speak about robotics.
On Monday 1 February he will be one of the speakers at a NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) discussion on the ethical implications of algorithm-supported decisions impacting our lives. The event, entitled "Computer Says No: justice, accountability and clarity in the age of algorithms" will be taking place in London. Further details are available here.
On Thursday 4 February, Professor Schafer will be returning to Edinburgh to take part in a public debate at the University's Informatics Forum. The evening's debate will question "How Robotics Will Reshape Our Lives in the Next Two Decades". It will begin at 6:30pm and you may register your place here.
Professor Schafer will be enjoying a busy week - it is great to see his wisdom being shared with those in the field of IT law.
