Prof Alexandra Braun appointed Professor Extraordinary at the University of Stellenbosch

The Department of Private Law of the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa has appointed Prof Alexandra Braun as Professor Extraordinary. 

Professor Extraordinary appointments at the University of Stellenbosch are made to recognise individuals for their proven specialised expertise and their eminence in their profession and field of study.

Prof Braun is Lord President Reid Chair of Law at Edinburgh Law School and is an internationally renowned scholar of comparative law and legal history. Her current research focuses primarily on the comparative study of both succession law and the law of trusts, the impact of the transfer of wealth on questions of intergenerational equality as well as on the study of the circulation of legal ideas across legal traditions. 

Prof Braun’s appointment will last for three years from January 2021, during which she will be involved in the academic programmes of the Department of Private Law.
