Law School staff participate in workshop on clean and affordable energy

On 26-27th November 2021, Edinburgh Law School's Dr Veronica Ruiz Abou-Nigm and Dr Ana Maria Daza Vargas, participated at a hybrid workshop organised by the University of Cyprus titled 'Clean and Affordable Energy: Exploring Transnational Legal Aspects of SDG7'.
Dr Ruiz Abou-Nigm, Senior Lecturer in International Private Law, gave the Keynote lecture on 'The Private Side of “Transforming our world” – The Role of Private International Law in Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations'.
Dr Daza Vargas, Lecturer in International Law, presented 'A Case Study: The Itaipu Treaty for the Hydroelectric Development of the Hydraulic Resources of the Paraná River'. Her presentation continued the engagement of the academic community with the ‘Itaipu Project’ led by the University of Edinburgh and the upcoming negotiation of Annex C of the Itaipu Treaty.
