Celebrating the strength of our global alumni community
Wed 17 December 2025
We would like to express our gratitude to alumni in Edinburgh and beyond for their unwavering commitment to strengthening our Edinburgh Law School alumni community and enriching the student experience through both financial and non-financial contributions.
Over the past year, alumni have demonstrated remarkable generosity in various ways. Their financial support, through scholarships and donations, has played a pivotal role in expanding opportunities for students. These contributions have enabled the School to provide greater financial support to students at all levels. Read about scholarship awardees of 2024/25.
Scholarships are a vital tool in terms of removing barriers that deter or prevent students from maximising and making the most of the opportunities that present themselves by proxy of being a student at the University of Edinburgh.
Equally important has been the invaluable non-financial support offered by alumni. Graduates have volunteered countless hours mentoring our current students, serving on advisory boards, offering career guidance, and sharing their expertise in guest lectures and workshops.
This academic year began with alumni being part of Welcome Week’s Networking Session, sharing insightful hints and tips for students at the start of their law journey. This was followed by alumni-led lectures such as the Opening of the Academic Year Lecture and Global Justice Academy Annual Lecture. Along with last week’s Alumni Perspective talk, the alumni engagement has helped bridge the gap between the classroom and real-world practice, empowering students think about their career possibilities with confidence and clarity.
Similarly, thanks to alumni there have been informal alumni meetups. The meetups have brought together former law students, both newcomers to a city and graduates returning home, and our current online students as well as students on their year abroad – building meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and feeling part of a supportive community.
We encourage graduates to stay connected and continue engaging in ways that align with your passions and values, from all years and whether you’re working in the legal profession or not.
Our warmest thanks to all alumni for their enduring support and for embodying the spirit, leadership, and generosity that defines our School.
Stay connected
