Working within a single department for the duration of your traineeship, you will gain experience of a wide variety of different case types within the field of Personal Injury. We like to provide you with the opportunity to hit the ground running, so you will have direct client contact and your own case holding from early on in your career with us.
You will be allocated a supervisor who will provide you with one-to-one support and the guidance that you need throughout your traineeship. Our supervisors are usually Partners or Associates, with an extensive knowledge of Personal Injury Law and a wealth of experience, making them the perfect people to learn from.
In recent years, we have had a fantastic retention rate (100% in 2024), with most of our trainees going on to join the firm as newly qualified solicitors and continuing their legal career with us.
Our trainees are vital to the continued success of Digby Brown and play an integral part in ensuring that we remain Scotland’s largest personal injury firm.
Applications for 2027 traineeship opportunities will open in early June 2025 and will close in late July 2025.

We are proud to support the communities we work in through charity partnerships, staff volunteering and community events.
Each of our offices select a ‘Charity of the Year’ to work alongside with the total raised by each office matched by Digby Brown before being presented to the chosen charity at the end of the partnership.
Staff also have an Employee Volunteering Day they can utilise each year to lend a helping hand to a charity or local cause of their choice. Whether clearing out a warehouse, tidying up hospital gardens, serving tea and coffee or bucket collecting at a football match, our staff is committed to making a difference in their communities - because it matters.
We provide a motivational, fulfilling and fun environment to work in because our people are central to our values.
Wellbeing and work-life balance are important to us at Digby Brown and every year, our HR Department create a Wellbeing Calendar running various activities which focus on the different pillars of wellbeing: mental, physical, financial and social. We also host an all staff Away Day event each year in the summer to bring our people from all seven offices together.
