Tobias is a socio-legal scholar, focusing on the intersection of law, technology and human rights. His PhD reconceptualises Free Speech for the digital age, and his broader interests cover media law, big data, the political economy of platform regulation, content moderation online, AI law and internet governance more broadly.
Tobias’ most recent publication ‘The False Logic of Technological Optimism in Law’ provides a conceptual framework for capturing human-technology relations in legal theory and is published with the Law, Innovation and Technology Journal.
