View my publicationsDr Ruiqiao Zhang possesses a comprehensive educational background, rigorous academic training, and extensive research and practice experience across multiple legal traditions and jurisdictions in Asia, Europe, and North America.
She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Law and Science, three master’s degrees in Civil and Commercial Law, International Commercial and Trade Law, and Comparative Law from universities in China, the Netherlands, and Canada respectively, and a doctoral degree in law from McGill University, where she was supervised by Professor Lionel Smith.
Her scholarly work includes monographs and articles published with leading academic presses such as Hart Publishing and Oxford University Press, as well as in prominent peer-reviewed journals across comparative law, general jurisprudence, and specialised legal domains.
Dr Ruiqiao Zhang is dually qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and as a lawyer in China. She regularly advises a range of organisations, including the China-Britain Business Council and the Cross Party Group on China of the Scottish Parliament, where she integrates academic scholarship with cross-jurisdictional practice.
She has held visiting appointments at the Oxford Law Faculty (Academic Visitor, 2026) and at Peking University Law School (Visiting Professor, 2019).
