UK Minister welcomes PeaceRep support for peace and transition processes
Tue 6 June 2023
On Monday 5 June 2023, PeaceRep hosted a high-level visit to Edinburgh Law School by David Rutley MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Americas and Caribbean), alongside colleagues from across the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The PeaceRep team showcased our work as an international research consortium shaping peace and conflict research and practice by combining global comparative peace process data and country-based research.
Executive Director Christine Bell and Managing Director Tim Epple thanked FCDO for their continued support and funding of our research and presented examples of how we have informed and supported peace process design in varied contexts.
The Minister’s visit coincided with the launch of version 7 of the PA-X Peace Agreements Database. As the most expansive collection of peace agreements data in the world – containing 2003 peace agreements from more than 150 peace processes between 1990 and 2023 – PA-X data underpins a suite of digital tools to support research and practice. The PeaceRep data team highlighted our focus on digital innovation and offered an opportunity to interact with our digital tools and trackers.
The Minister welcomed PeaceRep’s role in supporting peace and transition processes around the world.
