Speakers from Edinburgh Law School at Impact and Law Reform Conference
Tue 18 June 2019
Professor Hector MacQueen and Doctors Andrew Steven and John MacLeod spoke at a one-day conference organised by the Law Subject Associations (the Socio-Legal Studies Association and the Society of Legal Scholars) and the Law Commissions on 11th June 2019.
The conference examined how the legal researchers have worked successfully with the Law Commissions in the past, how the relevant skills can be developed, and what challenges and opportunities exist for impact in this area.
Professor MacQueen was a Scottish Law Commissioner from 2010-17, while Dr Steven is currently a Scottish Law Commissioner and Dr MacLeod worked with the Scottish Law Commission on its heritable security project, the first collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Heads of the Scottish Law Schools and the Scottish Law Commission. This first SLC discussion paper was published on 18th June. Dr Steven is the lead commissioner on the project, and spoke on work for the second discussion paper at the conference.
