Smart Regulation of Antibiotic Use in India Blog: Project activities (May 2019)

Some members of the project team attended meetings and workshops in New Delhi, India. On 13 May 2019, the members of the four projects funded under the UK-India Antimicrobial Resistance Initiative met to identify opportunities for collaboration. The Smart Regulation project was represented by Dr Anita Kotwani (PI-India), Mr Gerard Porter (PI-UK), Dr Jyoti Joshi (Co-PI India) and Dr Nagendra Hegde (CI-India) as well as the following research staff members – Dr Jyoti Saini, Dr Lovleen Bhullar and Dr Poulami Dasgupta.
On 14 May 2019, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India held a review meeting for the four projects funded under the UK-India Antimicrobial Resistance Initiative. The above-mentioned project investigators participated in this meeting and Dr Kotwani made a presentation.
On 15 May 2019, a workshop was organised to facilitate information exchange between the projects funded under the UK-India AMR Initiative and participants of a partnership workshop on tackling AMR in the environment from antimicrobial manufacturing waste, which was being organised by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) on behalf of United Kingdom Research & Innovation (UKRI) and DBT on the following day. The project investigators and Dr Bhullar attended this workshop. On 16 May 2019, Dr Joshi presented previous work of her organisation (CDDEP) at the partnership workshop, while Dr Kotwani and Dr Bhullar participated as observers.
