Mon 27 January 2025

PeaceRep Senior Research Fellow Laura Wise was invited with partners from the University of Stirling to present research on conflict fragmentation and peacemaking in Myanmar at the launch conference of new multi-year international policy programme on Global (Dis)Order, organised by the British Academy and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
The conference was held in London on January 13-15, and brought together practitioners, policymakers and researchers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds with demonstrable expertise that enables them to contribute authoritatively to the policy debate on this issue. Participants were asked to explore the current flux and fragmentation of the international system, in order to better understand the implications and lessons of reordering and disorder (positive, negative or otherwise).
Ms. Wise was also invited to contributed initial remarks to a high level roundtable of diplomats, humanitarians, lawyers, researchers and peacebuilders on the 'Accountability Pathways and Prospects for Violations of the Laws of War', where she spoke on the challenges of pursuing accountability for Conflict Related Sexual Violence in contemporary conflicts.
