Tue 2 December 2014
Professor Burkhard Schafer, Professor of Computational Legal Theory and Director of the SCRIPT Centre for IT and IP, is to address the Technology and Economic Development committee of the Washington House of Representatives during its work session on Thursday 4 December.
The committee has been leading US attempts to regulate drone technology to address privacy concerns.
Professor Burkhard will share with the committee research carried out at the SCRIPT Centre on the privacy implications of potentially invasive technologies.
His presentation will focus on the recent Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council on ‘A new era for aviation – opening the aviation market to the civil use of remotely piloted aircraft systems in a safe and sustainable manner’ and its privacy implications in light of the planned new Data Protection Regulation.
