In early July, Dr Kathryn Nash, Political Settlements Research Programme Fellow, conducted a research trip to Abuja, Nigeria with funding from the Edinburgh Law School.

During the trip, Dr Nash met with scholars and representatives from the Institute for Security Studies, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). In her capacity as a researcher, Dr Nash interviewed ECOWAS officials and worked with the Archiving and Documentation Division to collect primary source material on conflict management principles and practices. Dr Nash also discussed the PA-X Peace Agreements Database with policymakers in Nigeria and West Africa, and was welcomed to the Nile University of Nigeria to deliver a talk on the evolution of peace and security norms within African regional and sub-regional organisations.

A new PA-X report by Dr Nash, titled 'Interstate Agreements to End Intrastate Conflicts', examines interstate peace agreements that have been used to resolve internal conflict. It is available to download from the PSRP website.
