The Political Settlements Research Programme (PSRP) has published a video, produced jointly with UN Women, that explores the strategies women can use to engage in and influence peace processes.

This video is based on an instalment of the PA-X Spotlight Series, which addresses questions regarding comparative peace processes, asked by those seeking to influence peace and transition processes in becoming more inclusive. The Spotlight, titled ‘Re-invigorating Stalled Peace Negotiations: Challenges and Opportunities for Women’s Inclusion’ and scheduled for publication later this month, seeks to address questions such as: When formal peace negotiations stall or break down, how do international mediators and other diplomatic efforts attempt to reinvigorate them? What challenges and opportunities do these efforts create for women and women’s rights advocates?

The video, which is available both in Arabic and with English subtitles, is part of an ongoing project with UN Women: ‘Enhancing Women’s Leadership for Sustainable Peace in Fragile Contexts in the MENA Region’. The project seeks to support the building of sustainable peace in the Middle East and North Africa region by the transfer of evidence-based knowledge and skills to empower institutions and key actors, including women in the region themselves, thereby strengthening women’s leadership and participation in high level peace and transition processes.
