During the Law Schools Global League’s (LSGL) General Assembly held at the University of Pretoria, Professor Veronica Ruiz Abou-Nigm, Chair of Private International Law, was appointed as the League’s new Research Director.

Professor Ruiz Abou-Nigm will lead the League’s research initiatives, helping to strengthen LSGL’s role as a platform for cutting-edge, interdisciplinary legal scholarship.

Talking about taking up the role, Professor Ruiz Abou-Nigm said: “I’m truly honoured to take on the role of Research Director within the LSGL. I look forward to fostering meaningful collaborations, supporting interdisciplinarity in legal scholarship, and advancing our shared commitment to academic excellence and global impact. This year we partnered with the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Hamburg, for the organisation of the academic conference at the University of Pretoria, strengthening cooperation on research initiatives between and beyond LSGL members.”

Formed in 2012, the LSGL consists of a select number of leading law schools from all over the world, with the aims of stimulating and facilitating cooperation in global legal education and research between its members and engaging in debate with stakeholders in all fields of legal practice.
