Sharon Cowan, Professor of Feminist and Queer Legal Studies at Edinburgh Law School, was a panelist at The Association of Law Teachers Lord Upjohn event, 'When There Are 12: Legal Education and a Diverse Judiciary'.

The Lord Upjohn lecture is an annual lecture on legal education organised by the Association of Law Teachers. This year Baroness Hale of Richmond, former President of the UK Supreme Court, gave remarks about the role that legal education has to play in the development of a more diverse judiciary. Baroness Hale's remarks were then discussed by a panel including Professor Sharon Cowan (University of Edinburgh), Professor Iyiola Solanke (University of Leeds) and Lynne Townley (City, University of London), chaired by Professor Luke Mason (Birmingham City University).

The event took place virtually on Tuesday 25 May 2021.

The Association of Law Teachers (ALT) is a community of academics, professionals and practitioners engaged in legal education. Members support legal learning in schools, colleges, universities and professional sectors. The aim of the Association is to inspire and celebrate excellence in the teaching of law, and to share the understanding and practice of legal learning.
