Professor Sharon Cowan delivered a lecture at University College London (UCL) in March as part of the Current Legal Problems Lecture Series.

The lecture formed part of the prestigious Current Legal Problems Lecture Series, UCL Faculty of Laws’ flagship public lecture programme established more than 60 years ago.

In her talk, Professor Cowan examined the role of law in shaping contemporary understandings of gender and sex. She explored how and why legal systems have become central arenas for debates on these issues, and considered the impact of legal interventions on individuals whose rights are contested.

The lecture was chaired by Professor Carl Stychin, Director of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, a leading scholar in law, gender and sexuality.
