Professorial Fellow Graeme Laurie has received two awards in the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards 2026: the Editorial Contribution Award and the Author Service Award. Professor Laurie was recognised in both categories for his work as Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Bioethics Review (ABR).

The Editorial Contribution Award recognises Professor Laurie's meticulous assessment of submissions and rigorous management of the peer review process for ABR, safeguarding the scientific accuracy of the published record. The Author Service Award recognises his work in improving the author experience and ensuring the journal's peer review process is efficient, constructive and fair for contributors. The awards form part of Springer Nature's annual Editor of Distinction Awards, which recognise outstanding editors across its journals for their dedication to their journals and research communities.

The ABR is an international journal based in Asia, providing a forum to express and exchange original ideas on all aspects of bioethics, especially those relevant to the region. Published quarterly, the journal seeks to promote collaborative research among scholars in Asia or with an interest in Asia, as well as multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary bioethical studies more generally.

The ABR is the flagship publication of the Centre for Biomedical Ethics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The Centre for Biomedical Ethics is a collaborating centre on bioethics of the World Health Organization.

Professor Laurie was the founding director of the JK Mason Institute for Medicine, Life Sciences and the Law (2012-2017) and held the Chair of Medical Jurisprudence at the University of Edinburgh from 2005-2019.

Professor Laurie said: "It is a privilege to receive these awards on behalf of the Editorial Team of the Asian Bioethics Review in recognition of our commitment to quality and capacity building in our field.”
