Professor Emilios Avgouleas presents on AI to leading think tank and banking regulators

On Tuesday 5th February, the Professor spoke to attendees at two significant workshops for international business, legal, and banking interests.
Edinburgh Law School Professor Emilios Avgouleas presented his thoughts on big data and artificial intelligence, and their implications for domestic and international law, via teleconference as part of a workshop conducted by the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Toronto last week.
CIGI is one of the world’s leading think tanks, and among the topics of discussion at the workshop were the legal status of machines, such as robots and AI, and issues around accountability and legal liability for machine-made decisions.
On the same day, Professor Avgouleas was also the framing speaker at a European Banking Authority workshop attended by Europe’s banking regulators. Professor Avgouleas delivered his presentation on the topic of big data and data analytics and related tools, methods, and prospects in banking.
