Professor Anne-Maree Farrell will be working with Professor Martyn Pickersgill (Centre for Biomedicine Self and Society, University of Edinburgh) and Professor Susi Geiger, (University College Dublin) on a newly funded AHRC research network grant, entitled ‘Targeting Therapies: Exploring the Cultural and Normative Dimensions of 'Targeted' Approaches to Biomedicine and Public Health’.

The project will involve a series of interdisciplinary workshops to be held in both Edinburgh and Dublin which will interrogate historical, ethical, legal, cultural, and economic aspects of therapies aimed at discovering and delivering more targeted interventions within biomedicine and public health. A particular focus of the grant will be the creation of a mentorship programme for early career researchers (ECRs) who will be matched with senior network participants. This will be in addition to supporting ECR mobility and associated intellectual exchange and professional development. The project aims to foster new cross-disciplinary research and funded collaborations between researchers in the UK and Ireland, working at the interface between biomedicine and public health.
