Professor Andrew Lang selected by European Commission as potential Chairperson for arbitration and TSD expert panel

Professor Andrew Lang has been selected by the European Commission for inclusion in a list of individuals suitable for appointment as Chairperson for arbitrations, and Trade and Sustainable Development expert panel proceedings under EU bilateral free trade agreements. 

The EU’s bilateral free trade agreements establish state-to-state dispute settlement mechanisms to ensure compliance with the rights and obligations contained in these agreements. When disputes arise under these agreements, arbitrators are chosen from a list of suitable candidates prepared in advance. The EU has conducted a selection process to determine eligible candidates for selection as arbitrators should the need arise, to help ensure the timely adjudication of disputes arising.
