Professor Alexandra Braun elected as Full member of the Academia Internacional de Derecho de Sucesiones

Professor Alexandra Braun was elected as a Full Member of the Academia Internacional de Derecho de Sucesiones (International Academy of Succession Law). The Academy brings together legal scholars from across a range of universities across the globe whose legal expertise lies in the comparative study of succession law. Its aim is to further research in a broad range of matters related to inheritance and the family. 

Professor Braun has broad research interests in the comparative study of succession law, the law of trusts and the law of gifts. Her work explores especially the power relationships that underpin succession, trusts and gifts. Her monograph Claiming a Promised Inheritance: A Comparative Study (published by Oxford University Press in 2022) was selected as one of the “Law Books of the Year’’ in the German law journal JuristenZeitung in 2023.

Professor Braun is also interested in death studies, the informal aspects of succession planning and of the transfer of wealth of death, as well as the impact of inheritance on questions of intergenerational equality.
