Prof Laura Macgregor delivers inaugural lecture as Visiting Professor at the University of Nijmegen

Mon 24 November 2014

On 14 November Laura Macgregor delivered her inaugural lecture as part of her post as Visiting Professor in International Commercial Law at the University of Nijmegen, in the Netherlands.

Her lecture, entitled: "Agency law: a victim of its own success?", explored some of the leading theories in agency law, and in particular the idea of the agent as alter ego. Several of her colleagues from Edinburgh Law School travelled to Nijmegen to attend including Prof Emeritus Bill McBryde, Lorna Richardson and Prof Kenneth Reid.

As part of her two year appointment she has created an International Working Group on the law of agency, which met for the first time in the days leading up to her lecture, for a workshop.

Prof Macgregor would like to express her sincere thanks to Nijmegen University for their wonderful hospitality in staging the inaugural lecture and also in funding the International Working Group.  She is looking forward to working with her Nijmegen colleagues in the future, particularly Professors Danny Busch, Clartje Bulten and Sebastian Kortmann.
