Alexandra Braun at the University of Iowa

On 20 September 2019, Professor Alexandra Braun gave the Hugh J. and Frank Tamisiea Lecture in Trusts and Estates at the University of Iowa. The lecture launched a new project on Global Wealth Management, which facilitates leading-edge research and informed discussion on the global law and practice of private wealth management and transmission.

Prof Braun's lecture, entitled "Testamentary Promises: Wealth Transfers Behind the Scenes" explored ways in which wealth is managed and passed on after death in ways that are not always immediately visible and that involve informal family arrangements.

The lecture series honours Hugh Tamisiea and his father, Frank, both graduates of the College of Law at the University of Iowa, and who practiced together in the firm of Tamisiea and Tamisiea, one of the oldest law firms under one family name in the State of Iowa. It brings distinguished speakers to address the law of estate planning.

Prior Tamisiea Lecturers include Professors Mark L. Ascher, John H. Langbein, Jeffrey A. Schoenblum, Lionel Smith, and Lawrence W. Waggoner.
