Making the Digital Welfare State Work for People: Prof Philip Alston in conversation with Prof Nehal Bhuta

On 1 October 2019, Edinburgh Law School and the Edinburgh Centre for International and Global Law welcomed Prof Philip Alston, UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights and the John Norton Pomeroy Professor of Law at NYU School of Law, for the second Ruth Adler Memorial Lecture of 2019. During his time in Edinburgh, he also spoke with Prof Nehal Bhuta, Chair in International Public Law at Edinburgh Law School, about the application of digital technologies by governments, particularly in the welfare sector, and how it's transforming governance.
