IP LLM – Student activities beyond the classroom
Thu 7 May 2026
SCRIPT, the Scottish Research Centre for IP and Technology Law, partners the Intellectual Property Law LLM.
Intellectual Property Law LLM students have the opportunity, annually, to apply to serve as Assistant Editors for SCRIPT’s online open access peer-reviewed journal, SCRIPT-ed. This enables students to gain experience behind the scenes of a long-standing, highly regarded legal journal and contribute alongside representatives from all communities within Edinburgh Law School, including other LLM students, PhD candidates, and academic staff.
Inside the SCRIPTed editorial team: As part of the SCRIPTed experience, members of the editorial team regularly come together (sometimes over pizza sponsored by the SCRIPT Centre) to connect, share experiences, and prepare for the practical side of journal work, including training on the Edinburgh Diamond platform. Bringing together PhD researchers and LLM students from across programmes (including our IP LLM students), the team reflects the collaborative and interdisciplinary spirit of SCRIPTed. Beyond the social side, these moments help build confidence in working through the peer-review process and understanding how academic publishing operates in practice.
Being part of SCRIPTed offers our students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience while contributing to a long-standing journal at the intersection of law and technology
