Historic lecture theatre at Edinburgh Law School rededicated
Tue 8 October 2019
An historic lecture theatre at the Edinburgh Law School in Old College has been rededicated to honour the mother of a University alumnus following a generous donation. Utsava Kasera, who gained his MSc International Business and Emerging Markets from the University of Edinburgh, has named the room after his mother, Usha Kasera.
At a rededication ceremony on Wednesday 2 October 2019, Professor Martin Hogg, Head of the Law School, gave a speech in which he commended Utsava Kasera for his generosity and for the gesture of celebrating his mother. Professor John Cairns followed this with a history of the theatre, which has been an important room in the University since the construction of Old College. With a unique octagonal shape, the lecture theatre was previously named for the architect who designed it, Robert Adam, and is also known as the setting for the dissection of the infamous William Burke of Burke and Hare.
