Edinburgh Law School’s Global Justice Academy (GJA) is now a part of the Open Council of Europe Academic Networks (OCEAN). OCEAN unites universities and research institutions from the Council of Europe’s 46 members states, all focused on the shared goal of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.
OCEAN aims to share and create knowledge through teaching and research around the Council of Europe’s 200+ conventions in European academia. Through this membership, the GJA is expanding its European research network in human rights and other areas relating to global justice.
About being invited into OCEAN, the GJA’s Academy Director, Dr Kasey McCall-Smith said: "Joining this new and quickly growing research network is an ideal opportunity for GJA associates to develop new collaborations and reinforce existing research relationships with other European academic institutions. The enthusiasm surrounding OCEAN will no doubt shape an exciting research agenda and programme of events in the near future".
Founded in 2013, the Global Justice Academy is an interdisciplinary network that supports research, teaching, and knowledge exchange on global justice issues. It seeks to build on, consolidate, and expand on the work of existing centres and collaborations at the University of Edinburgh by facilitating discussions that allow academics, centres, and networks to expand their scope.
