The estate of the late Rodney Bernard Wasserson has provided a generous endowment to Edinburgh Law School to establish the “Jack and Jean Wasserson Industry Support Scholarships.”

Rodney Wasserson graduated with an LLB from Edinburgh Law School in 1966, and his brother, Dr Leslie Wasserson, also graduated from the University of Edinburgh. Mr Wasserson passed away in 2020 and left the School a generous legacy bequest in honour of his and Dr Wasserson’s parents, Jack and Jean Wasserson, to support the success of students studying law.

The newly established “Jack and Jean Wasserson Industry Support Scholarships” aim to support Edinburgh Law School students to progress in their studies alongside exploring employment and industry experience by providing resources to travel and spend time in professional communities relevant to their career.

“These are the first awards to form a consolidated programme of support to help students to visit and engage with the legal sector and beyond,” said Prof Nehal Bhuta, Director of Alumni Relations and Professor of Public International Law. “This will allow our students to gain invaluable industry experience, regardless of their circumstances.”
