Edinburgh Team placed 3rd at the UK Student Mediation Competition 2022
Tue 1 February 2022
Canterbury Christchurch University hosted this year’s UK Student Mediation Competition on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th January. The event was cancelled last year owing to the pandemic, but the decision to hold this year’s competition in person at Canterbury attracted 17 university teams from across the UK, including three teams from Scotland.
Edinburgh Law School was represented by Diploma students Jerry McNally, Argyll Reid, Jamie Perriam and Thomas Mackie. After three rounds of co-mediation which were judged by a panel of professional mediators, solicitors and legal academics, the Edinburgh Team were placed 3rd overall.
In addition to this excellent performance by the Edinburgh Team, Jerry McNally was placed 4th overall in the individual mediator category.
Congratulations to Jerry and the rest of the Edinburgh Team for their success and for highlighting this increasingly important method of dispute resolution.
