Edinburgh mooting team

We’re delighted to share the Edinburgh Law School mooting team won the Stair Society Legal History Moot, which was held on 1 March 2025. This was a special event to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Stair Society, Scotland’s leading legal history society.

The Edinburgh team consisted of Tanuri Kulendran, Senior Counsel, Hannah Corke, Junior Counsel and Mohammed Alawami, Research Counsel.

The competition, which took place in Court 1 in Parliament House, saw Edinburgh face the Aberdeen team, where they had to moot according to the law of 1851, and the legal issues raised concerning wages for domestic service and an action of seduction.

The moot was judged by Lord Ericht and Professor MacQueen and clerked by Orla Crane, the President of the Edinburgh Mooting Society.

The competitions was organised by Professor Gillian Black for Edinburgh and Dr Alice Krzanich and Dr Jonathan Ainslie for Aberdeen, both of whom are Edinburgh Law School alumni.

Congratulations to the Edinburgh team on their fantastic performance!
