Vis Moot team

The University of Edinburgh Law School has, for a number of years, participated in the Willem C Vis Moot which focuses on international commercial law and international dispute resolution through arbitration. The competition usually takes place in Vienna around Easter each year.

This year’s team from the Law School comprises three LLM students: Marlene Straub, Franziska Heim, and Jackson Neagli. The team this year have been coached by Valerie Boehm, herself a former competitor in the competition and LLM student and Fergus Whyte, a devil at the Faculty of Advocates. The team was supported by Dr John Macleod as staff liaison.

Due to recent events, the team will not be travelling to Vienna this year but will be participating in a series of online rounds starting on 4 April 2020.

The team and the Law School were also very glad to be able to host the 9th Edinburgh International Pre-Moot on the weekend of 7 and 8 March 2020 at Old College. This preparatory mooting event is one of the largest in Scotland and brought together 14 teams from across Europe with volunteers from the professions and the judiciary acting as judges for the event. The Pre-Moot was organised by Kane Abry-Diaw de Baye, a PhD student at the Law School.
