Edinburgh Law School will be strongly represented at the first Scottish Law and Innovation Network (SCOTLIN) conference taking place on the 21st and 22nd April in Stirling.

Daria Onitiu, Research Assistant on the Governance and Regulation node of the UKRI Trusted Autonomous Systems network (TAS) will talk about her research into the human rights implications of automated medical diagnostic systems in her talk "Defining the Levels of Trust - Informing Data Protection during the Covid-19 Crisis”.

Burkhard Schafer will present findings from the EPSRC project on Cumulative Data Disclosure, an interdisciplinary research project that brings together computer scientists, digital design experts and lawyers to mitigate online risks for security critical organisations. Building on their award winning research on data narratives, Burkhard will talk about the way in which even innocuous pieces of personal data can have significant risks attached to them, drawing lessons from environmental science for data protection: "Lethal in small doses: environmental metaphors for privacy protection in the infosphere"

The Script Centre is one of the founding members of the Scottish Law and Innovation Network (SCOTLIN). Funded by a grant from the Royal Society of Edinburgh, it intends to promote the study and knowledge exchange on how the law can foster technological innovation in Scotland.
