School Tasking Finalists at a presentation in MacLaren Stuart Room

On Tuesday 11 June, Edinburgh Law School held the School Tasking Scottish Final.

Led by Lindsay Jack, teams from Canal View Primary and Forthview Primary undertook a variety of tasks to be crowned the Scottish School Tasking Champions. With help from a team of Judges of Law School staff and legal professionals, in the closest Scottish Final yet, The Catty Chicken Nuggets from Canal View were crowned the winning team for 2024.

School Tasking introduces Primary 6 pupils to interesting areas of law through a variety of fun tasks, giving pupils a chance to practice skills and encouraging them to connect with higher education from an early age.

The variety of tasks the pupils take part in gives every pupil a chance to shine and show off their skills and talents. Tasks vary widely, and include drawing, wordsearches, acting out court cases, using Lego to depict legal cases, coming up with laws, and many more.

The in-school sessions are run by Edinburgh Law School students. The project gives undergraduate LLB students an opportunity to potentially increase their employability by gaining transferable skills in communication, adaptability, teamwork, and more, all while teaching 9 to 10-year-olds legal concepts.

Thank you to all of those who have supported this year’s School Tasking Project.

The School Tasking Programme is created by Dr Ali Struthers from The University of Warwick’s Law School, and Edinburgh Law School is proud to have been part of the project since its inception.
