Matthew Soper has become the first Law School alumnus to serve in the Colorado General Assembly.
Rep. Soper earned his LLB in law and LLM in public international law, focusing on maritime piracy, from the Edinburgh Law School, an educational background that he credits with making his election possible at the relatively young age of 34.
As well as his degrees obtained from the University of Edinburgh, Rep. Soper went on to earn another LLM from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
“It has been a tremendous privilege to be elected to the Colorado House of Representatives. Few people ever serve in their state or national legislatures, and it is an incredible honour to be making decisions on behalf of my constituents,” Rep. Soper said, adding that: “Earning an LLM and LLB from Edinburgh really laid the foundation for a career in law and politics.”
