The Cork Online Review

Edinburgh Law School is delighted to share the news of former LLM Medical Law and Ethics student, Niamh O'Leary McNeice, whose adapted dissertation was recently awarded The Gold Medal for Best Overall Article in the Cork Online Law Review.

Niamh’s article: "Pregnant Women as a ‘Vulnerable’ Population in The New EU Clinical Trials Regulation: Does This Classification Adequately Consider the Harms Associated with The Exclusion of Pregnant Women from Clinical Research?" was published in the 20th edition (Edition XX) of the Cork Online Law Review, launched on Monday 12th April 2021.

In the article, Niamh critically analyses the new Clinical Trials Regulation, Regulation EU No 536/2014, outlining the detrimental effects associated with both the exclusion and inclusion of pregnant women from clinical trial participation. Read full article.

In an acknowledgement to her former lecturer, Niamh thanked Annie Sorbie “for all the guidance and support throughout the Masters, but specifically in relation to writing this dissertation”.
