Mon 22 March 2021
Dr Filippo Fontanelli, Senior Lecturer in International Economic Law at Edinburgh Law School, wrote a chapter of the open access book “Scotland’s New Choice: Independence after Brexit”, published on 18 March 2021 by the Centre on Constitutional Change of the University of Edinburgh.
In this new book, 25 leading academics address the question of what independence would mean for Scotland after Brexit and Covid-19, to inform the public debate. The aim of this book is to provide some clarity on the issues, the opportunities and the challenges surrounding the prospect of independence for Scotland in the light of the changes occurred since 2016. The collection provides impartial, authoritative analysis on key issues to help voters steer their way through the competing claims of the campaigns. Dr Fontanelli’s chapter, in particular, examines how independence would affect international trade. The analysis assesses different post-Brexit scenarios for an independent Scotland’s trading relationships with the rest of the UK, EU and rest of the world.
The book is freely accessible via the Centre on Constitutional Change publications.
