Dr Edward Dove, Lecturer in Health Law and Regulation at Edinburgh Law School, has been invited to join the National Data Guardian’s Panel from September 2021.

The National Data Guardian, a role placed on a statutory footing in England under the Health and Social Care (National Data Guardian) Act 2018, and granted the power to issue official guidance about the processing of health and adult social care data in England, advises and challenges the health and care system to help ensure that citizens’ confidential information is safeguarded securely and used properly.

The Panel comprises an independent group of experts who advise on the state of information governance across the health and care system in England and in particular, it provides advice to the National Data Guardian and meets on a monthly basis.

There is more information about the National Data Guardian and the NDG panel, including publications, consultations and corporate information, on the National Data Guardian organisation page.
