Dr Anna Souhami to advise on English and Welsh youth justice reform

Wed 27 August 2014

Dr Anna Souhami has been invited by the Ministry of Justice to advise on structural reform of the youth justice system in England and Wales. These are the first proposed changes to the institutions of youth justice since the radical reform of the youth justice landscape under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

Dr Souhami has conducted extensive research on the institutions of English and Welsh youth justice. She is currently completing a major ethnographic study of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales (YJB),  the public body responsible for the oversight of the youth justice system. Her previous research explored the formation and operation of Youth Offending Teams (YOTs), the multi-agency organisations which deliver youth justice services throughout England and Wales. She is the author of Transforming Youth Justice: occupational identity and cultural change (Willan, 2007).
