We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Celeste Popoff, who has won the award for Best Oralist in the Europe Regional Rounds of the University of Oxford’s Price Media Law Moot Court Competition 2025, hosted in partnership with Université Paris Cité.

Celeste was part of the team that represented Edinburgh Law School in the competition, presenting a case on freedom of expression and digital technologies before panels of judges consisting of experienced practitioners and academics from across Europe. Together with Celeste, the Edinburgh Law School team consisted of Giulia Cancellaro from the International Relations and International Law programme, Sanjri Rakesh Misri and Sundaresan Sivadas from the LLM Programme, and Marcus Tambling from the LLB Programme.

The Price Media Law Moot Court Competition has been part of the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford since 1 August 2017. The moot challenges students to engage in comparative research of legal standards at the national, regional and international levels, and to develop their arguments (in written and oral forms) on cutting-edge questions in media law and human rights. The Price Moot is the world’s largest competition in its field and is considered one of the ‘grand slam’ or major moots.
