Alumna and research associate Dr Kath Murray writes for The Herald

Tue 23 February 2016

Today's edition features Dr Murray's insights into policing in Scotland

In today's edition of the Herald, Edinburgh Law School alumna and Scottish Centre for Crime & Justice Research associate Dr Kath Murray commented on police governance.

In her opinion piece, Dr Murray laid out the key questions in play as Andrew Flanagan concludes his review of how the police is run in Scotland.

Dr Murray's article builds upon her PhD thesis "The Proactive Turn: Stop and Search in Scotland", which examined stop and search practices in Scotland and the effects of search encounters on public attitudes towards the police. It had a significant impact on shifting Scottish Government policies regarding stop and search, again indicating the real-world application of our research.
