20th annual Pro Bono Week celebrations start at the School of Law with online Pro Bono Fair
Mon 1 November 2021
To coincide with the launch of the 20th annual Pro Bono Week, Edinburgh Law School and the Pro Bono Society are hosting this year’s Pro Bono Fair on Monday, 1st November between 12 noon and 5pm.
The 20th anniversary of Pro Bono Week is a pivotal moment to look ahead to the next twenty years of pro bono. This look to the future will also coincide with the focus on climate change taking place with the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow.
As in previous years, during Pro Bono Week organisations have been encouraged to organise events, communications and publications which focus on one of three topics:
- Celebrating pro bono: commending those who give back and recent successes in pro bono.
- Pro bono pathways: exploring the different ways lawyers can volunteer throughout their careers.
- Effective pro bono: sharing best practice and discussing what makes an effective pro bono service.
The online Pro Bono Fair brings together a number of charities and organisations offering pro bono and access to justice services throughout Scotland and the global community. They will showcase their work and highlight volunteering opportunities for students. There will also be an “online café” for more informal socialising and networking.
More details about the Pro Bono Fair and other events taking place across the UK during Pro Bono Week can be found on the Pro Bono Week website.
