The Law Society of Scotland and Edinburgh University are holding a roundtable on trade in services.
The panel will be:
- Andrew Lang (Chair)
- John Cooke of Convener of TheCityUK’s Liberalisation of Trade in Services Committee and a former civil servant with extensive experience of trade negotiations
- Sally Jones, Director of International Trade Policy and Global Brexit Insight Lead for Deloitte LLP
- David Henig, Director of the UK Trade Policy Project at the European Centre for International Political Economy
- Carolyn Thurston Smith, Policy executive and trade policy lead at the Law Society of Scotland
The discussion will centre around: where we have got to in terms of trade in services at WTO level and in the more recent FTAs (focusing on those negotiated by the EU); where we need to/would like to be (eg regulatory cooperation discussions); and issues the UK should prioritise in the context of an independent post-Brexit trade policy.
