To mark the publication of her new book, Titans of Industrial Agriculture, the Edinburgh Competition Law and Economics Network is delighted to host a conversation with Professor Jennifer Clapp

Professor Clapp holds the Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo. Titans of Industrial Agriculture examines how a small handful of giant transnational corporations has come to dominate the farm inputs sector, why it matters, and what can be done about it. Among the first works to examine deep roots of corporate power in agriculture, the book illuminates how corporate actors have encouraged the “lock-in” of industrial agriculture, despite all its known social and ecological costs.

The event will be chaired by Dr Andrew McLean, Director of ECLEN and Lecturer of Law & Political Economy, with Dr Simone Lamont-Black, Senior Lecturer in International Trade Law, joining as discussant.

This event is online only.
