About the Speaker
Sexual Violence in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights will focus on Carlos Zelada's expertise in the intersections of law and dissident sexualities, particularly within the context of the evolving jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights regarding sexual violence crimes across the Americas. Carlos is a renowned expert, having served as an expert witness before the Inter-American Court in the case of Vicky Hernández v Honduras, marking the tribunal's first ruling to address a transfeminicide. With nearly a decade of experience at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Carlos brings a wealth of practical knowledge to our conversation. Carlos is an Associate Professor of Law at the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Law degree at the University of Oxford.
