Rethinking “the state” from the Global South: Interdisciplinary perspectives
What does it mean to take a comparative perspective on “the state”? And to do so from the Global South? Crossing law, politics, and the humanities, Florian Hoffmann and Geeta Patel will discuss constitutions and pensions in comparative perspective, with an emphasis on Brazil and India. In doing so, they will offer some reflections on whether and how the state can be thought from and through the Global South, and the epistemic and disciplinary challenges in doing so.
In association with the Reversing the Gaze project at Edinburgh Law School, and the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities
